For example, never let the dog sleep in your bed (unless you sleep in the dogs bed apparently), never let it go through doors first, never feed it first before you eat your food and let it have food from your table, never let it look down on you. You dog owners, do you really manage all these things or have you just been lucky with yours, that they still know their place in the pecking order?
One thing is for certain our cats have perfected all the above traits and are obviously the alpha males in our house! I've always suspected cats are much better at training humans than humans are at training dogs.... a demonstration of Tikka enjoying being pampered by one of her many slaves....

Tillägg: Bra bok av en hundpsycholog är "The Other End of the Leash" av Patricia McConnell.
We haven't had (almost) no problems with our two dogs. Diva, 50kg Boerboel bitch, went to dog training as a 3-4 month old pup, and learned a LOT, which is very important especially for a BIG dog, that should also work as a watch-dog. And when we got Rufus, 40kg male Labrador, Diva was the dominant dog and trained him! When we had some problems, it was when they were pups, the usual stuff: biting some shoes etc. But that is past now.
I love my dogs, and wouldn't be without them! But I don't think I would like a small dog, because they seem to be more scared which leads so a lot of barking. Our dogs only barks when there is a reason, like some stranger on the street, some animal like a big iguana or a snake in the garden.
